get a living, but don't forget to live.
i often wonder why we're brought up with this premeditated plan for our lives...
....as if conforming to the ideals of the 'american way,' what is "sopposed" to be, is already the determined structure that our lives should take. because that will make you happy.
[hmm...]
have your 2.5 children, walk your golden retriever, make your monthly mortage payment...
blah. blah. blah.
all while sinking slowly [or quickly?] into debt.
and not just from that stack of bills...
...but the debt of a wasted life.
and that's the way things are sopposed to be?!
yick.
now don't get me wrong... i'm not a cynic of any sort. actually, quite the opposite.
i'm a silly, hopeless romantic who dreams of that "sandals on the beach wedding" someday.... but come on...
i'm curious to know why so many americans enjoy a life made of routine and reprise. day in and day out, living paycheck to paycheck, working 70 hours a week...
doesn't it seem ultimately dull?!
and in my theory, the 'cause of the multitude of pressing issues facing our society today?
[depression, obesity, addiction, divorce...]
maybe we need a 'lil life in our lives rather than another damn pill.

Hi flapjack-face!
You know, I actually think most people prefer not to live the
lives they do. I think most of us are just pulled into them
because of the ease of such a path, the preconceived notions of
what's right, safe, and successful.
What they don't teach us in school? Hope, believing in yourself,
taking chances, risks, finding true happiness.
They just feed us statistics, guide is improperly based on tests
run off of mind that is immature and not sure what to do with
itself at that time, and force us to make a decision when we
graduate - when all we want to do is have fun.
Other parts of the world are not like that.
For example, Italians. There are some Italian guys in my program
in their 30's. No, they didn't start late. Italian culture has
it so that when you leave high school, you travel for a few
years, find yourself, grow up.
It's not that Americans love to live these lives that the don't
control - it's just that we are so easily guided into them, and
realize to late, and then become regretful and find ourselves
fighting for our dreams.
That's the new American Dream - to escape the American lifestyle.

...making them a reality...
...and having a lil fun in this one life we live.
